. . .Received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from West Virginia Univesity in 1980 and has consulted on forensic cases for thirty-five years.  He is board certified in forensic psychology.  He retired in 2014 following a thirty-four year career as a faculty member at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, although he continues to consult on court cases.  During his teaching career he served as director of the Marshall University campus psychology clinic for fifteen years.  He has authored dozens of journal articles, presented scholarly papers throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan, and written several books including The Millennium Man, a psychological novel about the twentieth century.

 

Prior to receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Wyatt earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Charleston (then Morris Harvey College), in Charleston, WV, after which he earned a master's degree from the University of Miami, Florida.  Dr. Wyatt has enjoyed a long and varied career in psychology.  Following receipt of his master's degree in 1970, he was employed full-time as a staff psychologist at the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center in Institute, WV, then worked more than three years at MIldred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital (then Huntington State Hospital) in Huntington.  He also was a full-time staff member at Prestera Behavioral Health Center in Huntington, just  prior to joining the Marshall University faculty.   Along with his forensic work, Dr. Wyatt has served as consultant to Family Services of the Kanawha Valley and Pathways Mental Health Center in Ashland, Kentucky. 

 

He serves on the Board of Directors of the Judge Rotenberg Center in Boston.  His wide-ranging interests led him, for many years, to co-host a weekly radio talk show with former Huntington mayor Jean Dean.  He is a contributing columnist to The Charleston Gazette-Mail.  Dr. Wyatt lives with his wife Barbara in Hurricane, West Virginia.  He has a son, Sgt. Daniel Wyatt of the St. Albans, WV Police Department, and daughter Heather Smith who is employed at Marshall University.  He has two granddaughters.
